Make the EasyKOT Desktop App yours — six themes, four sizes.

A Desktop App is stared at for ten hours a day: it should suit the room and the eyes doing the staring. Six colour themes with live previews, four sizes that respect fingers, a dark-mode shortcut for the evening dim, and a menu rail that reshapes to your menu's size. All of it on the Desktop App, none of it needing support.

The walkthrough

The whole look in two minutes — three steps.

1

Pick a theme — each card is a live preview

Open Settings → Appearance. Six theme cards each show a miniature Desktop App in that palette: Monochrome, the clean light default; Graphite, the same discipline after dark; Warm Paper and Velvet for warmer rooms; Marine for a cooler one; Midnight for evening service. Tap 'Use' and the Desktop App repaints instantly. Colour is the only thing that changes: every key stays exactly where your staff learned it.

EasyKOT's Appearance settings: six theme cards — Monochrome, Graphite, Warm Paper, Velvet, Marine and Midnight — each showing a live miniature Desktop App in its palette, with Monochrome selected

Step 1: every card is the real Desktop App in miniature; tap Use and the Desktop App repaints.

2

Set the size your counter actually reads at

Under Size & spacing, choose Compact, Default, Comfortable or Spacious. Text and spacing change together: Spacious gives larger text and more room, while Compact fits more dishes on a small laptop. Buttons keep their minimum touch size at every setting.

Appearance size and spacing choices: Compact fits more items, Default balances size and spacing, Comfortable gives larger text and more space, and Spacious gives the largest text and spacing

Step 2: four sizes; type and spacing move together, buttons never shrink.

3

Shape the category rail to your menu

Menu layout offers Simple list, Grouped categories and Expandable categories. Simple list keeps categories together in one list; Grouped categories puts them under their parent headings; Expandable categories opens a parent's sub-categories when tapped. This setting applies across the restaurant and reaches other devices when they reconnect.

Display questions

Straight answers.

Is there a proper dark mode for evening service?
Yes, three of the six themes are dark (Graphite, Velvet, Midnight), and you don't dig through Settings mid-service to get one: Shift+D flips the Desktop App between your chosen light and dark pair on the spot. Dim the dining room at seven, flip the Desktop App with it.
If I change the theme, does every Desktop App change?
No, theme and density are per Desktop App, on purpose. The Desktop App at the counter in the window can run Monochrome at Compact while the bar's Desktop App runs Midnight at Spacious. Only the category-rail layout is store-wide, because how the menu is organised should read the same everywhere.
Do the themes change what prints?
Never. Bills and KOTs print black on thermal paper whatever the screen looks like. And the veg and non-veg food marks keep their legal FSSAI colours on screen in every theme: those are regulation, not decoration, and no palette is allowed to touch them.
Does the kitchen screen follow the theme?
No, the kitchen board always runs dark, deliberately. A pass display is read at two metres under kitchen lights, and its high-contrast dark scheme is chosen for that job, not for style. Your theme applies to the Desktop App surfaces: cashier, floor, orders, settings.
Can I make just the text bigger without changing anything else?
Density is the size lever: it scales the dish names, the amounts and the row spacing together so the layout stays balanced. There is no separate font-size slider today. If Comfortable still reads small on your screen, go Spacious; the buttons stay put either way.
