A second EasyKOT Desktop App, a third — one store, one floor.

The day one Desktop App stops being enough is a good day: the queue got long. Adding the second Desktop App is a five-minute pairing, not an IT project: one Desktop App hosts a meeting point on your own Wi-Fi, the rest join with a code, and the whole counter works one floor, one order list, one kitchen, internet optional.

Two EasyKOT Desktop Apps connected through one counter hub
The walkthrough

One Desktop App to a whole counter — three steps.

Counter 1 and Counter 2 are already connected to the same Konkan Kitchen store. Keep both on the restaurant's local Wi-Fi. On Counter 1, open Settings, then Multi-device. Select Host the hub. Keep this laptop awake and EasyKOT running during service. Use the address shown here, then select Code for a Desktop App. This single-use code expires in five minutes. On Counter 2, open Multi-device and select Join a hub. Choose Find hub, or type the exact address shown on Counter 1. Enter the Pairing code, then select Pair and save. Wait for Paired. This Desktop App has its own hub credential. Counter 1 now lists the device, and both status bars show the live hub. Now start the real T2-001 order for four hundred rupees on Counter 2. Each laptop saves locally, which is designed to keep the counter working during a future internet problem. This recording keeps the internet on. The local hub shares that order with Counter 1's Orders list. Fire the Kay O Tea on Counter 2 only after the same order appears there. In a paired store, Counter 1 is the print server. Configure the kitchen printer there, and verify the real Kay O Tea before service. Cloud sync still runs separately on each laptop. Keep Counter 1 running for live sharing and printing. If Counter 1 restarts, create a new code and pair Counter 2 again.

Make one Desktop App the hub

On your main Desktop App: Settings → Connected devices → 'Main register'. The screen shows the address other devices will find it at on your shop's network. That's the whole job of the hub: a meeting point on your own Wi-Fi; there is no server to install and no cloud dependency for the Desktop Apps to talk.

Connected devices with Main register selected: local sharing controls, Connect another register and Connect a phone actions, Captain app switch, paired devices and advanced network settings; this browser preview explains that pairing codes need the installed Desktop App

Step 1: choose Main register. In the installed Desktop App, this panel shows the network address and creates one-use device codes.

2

Pair the second Desktop App with a five-minute code

Tap 'Connect another register': a single-use code, alive for five minutes, shown big and as a QR. On the new Desktop App: 'Connect to main register', let it find the hub by itself (or type the address if your network is strict), enter the code, 'Connect this register'. Done. Pairing a waiter's phone is even shorter: mint 'Connect a phone' and the captain app scans the QR in one step.

Connected devices with Connect to main register selected: a Main register address field, Find main register button, Pairing code field and Connect this register action

Step 2: find the main register or type its address, enter the five-minute code, then choose Connect this register.

Work as one store

From that moment the Desktop Apps share the floor, the open orders and the kitchen display. A table seated on the first Desktop App is seated on the second; a KOT fired at the counter lands on the kitchen screen by the pass; a check opened here settles there. Each Desktop App still keeps its own complete local database and its own bill-number series, which is why the whole arrangement keeps billing through an internet outage.

The same hub is how everything else joins the store: the kitchen screen pairs as a Desktop App and locks itself to the pass, and the captain app on a waiter's phone scans its QR in one step.

Multi-device questions

Straight answers.

Does multi-device need the internet?
No, the Desktop Apps talk over your shop's own Wi-Fi or LAN. Internet down, the floor stays shared and the kitchen screen stays live. Internet up, every Desktop App also syncs to the cloud independently, so the dashboard and any off-site kitchen stay current too.
What if the Desktop App hosting the hub goes down?
The store keeps running. Every Desktop App holds its own full copy of the data, so nothing is lost, and the remaining Desktop Apps notice the silence and one of them takes over as hub on its own within moments. When the original comes back, it rejoins as a regular member. No one in the kitchen has to know it happened.
How do I remove a device — a sold laptop, a staff phone that left?
Settings → Connected devices on the main register shows every connected device. Choose Remove access and confirm the named device to disconnect it without touching the others. Each pairing code is single-use and expires in five minutes. The Captain-app switch turns every connected phone away at once, without unpairing them, for the day you want phones off the floor.
My Wi-Fi doesn't find the hub automatically. Stuck?
No, automatic discovery is a convenience, not a requirement. Some routers (especially shared building Wi-Fi) block the announcements it uses; the Join screen always takes the hub's address typed straight in, and the QR pairing carries the address inside it anyway.
Can two different restaurants on the same Wi-Fi see each other?
No. A hub only ever announces itself to its own store: discovery is filtered by store identity, so a food-court's shared network never offers you the neighbour's Desktop App. And pairing still needs a live code minted on the host Desktop App, which only your staff can do.
Do both Desktop Apps print bills with the same numbers?
Each Desktop App mints its own GST invoice series (T1/…, T2/…) consecutive within itself. That's deliberate: it means two Desktop Apps never have to coordinate to bill, even offline. The first-GST-bill guide covers the numbering in depth.
